According to data.ai , in 2023 Gardenscapes by Playrix earned over $1B. Here’s a quick dive-in by Adsup. Playrix are widely known by their match-3 titles Gardenscapes and Homescapes. In 2019, the publisher pioneered misleading ads, which led to a massive increase in downloads and revenue. After the misleading ads' ban in 2020, Playrix managed to keep pace by implementing mini-puzzle games to the gameplay. How does Playrix make money? The publisher earns from in-app purchases only, they successfully use Season Pass and Live Ops mechanics. How do they advertise? Playrix focuses on a creative strategy: they test many ad creatives and constantly implement new storylines and formats. Playrix also actively conducts cross-promotion of their games. Hello there! As a follow-up to our recent post about fraud detection, we asked our colleagues to share their insights on mobile fraud. Fortunately, premium traffic sources such as Facebook have decent fraud protection — said Kamil Baltaev , Head of Mediabuying at Adsup. Source managers are always in touch and you can always contact them about suspicious traffic. Unlike premium sources, in-app traffic channels are vulnerable to fraud. Maria Lidvañ shared a story of the last time she faced in-app fraud. “For one of our clients, we purchased traffic from several in-app sources. In one of these sources, we didn’t meet the clients’ KPI, so I texted the source manager to see how can we resolve the problem. The next morning, I discovered that the numbers were magically raised to meet the KPI. From the advertiser's point, those events looked pretty good but this sudden growth was suspicious. We can calculate a short-term RR (Day 1, Day 7) or a long-term RR (Day 21). In this case, Day 1 RR is 5% which is very low. I would say the average Day 1 RR for a mobile game should be 16-20%. And don't forget that the Retention Rate depends on the product and users. If you attract irrelevant users to a good product, the RR will be low. And same if you attract relevant users to a bad product.
