Pulmonary arterial hypertension (#PAH) is a rare disease affecting around 1 in 100,000 people and is more common in women. 

It is a subgroup of pulmonary hypertension (#PH) occurring when the small arteries in the lungs become thickened and narrowed, causing pressure in those arteries to build up. This can damage the heart and cause symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, and lightheadedness. 

Because PAH is so rare, it is important to increase awareness to help people spot the signs of the condition.
