The AES Corporation operates as a diversified power generation and utility company. It owns and/or operates power plants to generate and sell power to customers, such as utilities, industrial users, and other intermediaries. The company also owns and/or operates utilities to generate or purchase, distribute, transmit, and sell electricity to end-user customers in the residential, commercial, industrial, and governmental sectors; and generates and sells electricity on the wholesale market. It uses a range of fuels and technologies to generate electricity, including coal, gas, hydro, wind, solar, and biomass; and renewables, such as energy storage and landfill gas. The company owns and/or operates a generation portfolio of approximately 31,459 megawatts. It has operations in the United States, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. The company was formerly known as Applied Energy Services, Inc. and changed its name to The AES Corporation in April 2000. The AES Corporation was incorporated in 1981 and is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.

AES Brasil achieved two remarkable accomplishments! This year, they were included in the Época NEGÓCIOS 360º review, a yearbook that distinguishes the country's leading companies, criteria based on innovation, future vision, ESG and financial performance. 

AES Brasil had outstanding results in the energy category, particularly in the people and ESG. 🎉 An incredible achievement!🏆

116 women from El Salvador have graduated as fourth-class electricians through the AES Mujer program. This initiative organized between AES El Salvador, Salvadoran Institute for the Development of Women and Superintendencia General de Electricidad y Telecomunicaciones.

The AES Mujer program is now on its 8th session and has certified 748 women as electrical technicians – a stepping-stone into the energy sector. We believe that their talents and skills will substantially contribute to the transformation of the electricity landscape.

Upon successful completion of the program, these women gain certification, enabling them to perform dependable and secure residential electrical installations. For two years running, they have also attained specialization in "Load Census Reading," enhancing their prospects for employment in the electricity sector.
