Today, our donor-funded ACS Impact Venture Fund (AIVF) invests in for-profit, early-stage companies developing cutting-edge, cancer-focused therapeutics, diagnostics, devices, and technologies to fuel and accelerate ACS’s mission of ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.

In 2023 Journal of National Cancer Institute (NCI), American Cancer Society researchers found that delayed care due to lack of transportation and lodging is associated with increased emergency room use and mortality risk among adults with and without cancer history. ACS awards transportation grants to 500 health systems and 30 Hope Lodges provide patients and caregivers free lodging and community. Team BrightEdge - American Cancer Society Trivia Night at Boston Hope Lodge brightening spirits this week.

Thanks to The Global Impact Investing Network, Shundil Selim and Kyle Bergerson for hosting today’s webinar on “Addressing Healthcare Disparities in the U.S. Through Innovative Financing Structures.” Expert panelists, moderated by our Director of Impact, Eunice Chapon, included Colby Dailey of Multiplier Advisors, Jake Segal of Social Finance, Erika Brice of The Kresge Foundation, Janna Mancini of The California Endowment, and Perry Teicher of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, with support from Joshua Zail.  Great discussion on the challenges of overcoming social determinants of health (SDOH) and how different impact investors deploy various financing structures to advance community-level health outcomes!
