The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation is a state-owned corporation that manages and invests the assets of the Alaska Permanent Fund, a sovereign wealth fund established in 1976 to save a portion of the state's oil revenue for future generations. The first royalty payment was deposited into the Fund on this day in 1977.  This date marks an important milestone in Alaska's history; we're grateful to our state's leaders for ensuring that this non-renewable resource would be able to benefit all current and future generations of Alaskans.  

 

In both the Alaska Permanent Fund's creation and stewardship, Alaskans have successfully converted non-renewable resources into a renewable revenue stream of intergenerational wealth. This has been accomplished by permanently saving a portion of Alaska’s natural resource royalty, protecting its long-term value, and investing it in a well-diversified portfolio of income-producing financial assets.
