Following the conclusion of COP28 in Dubai last month, our President and CEO, Manish Bapna, reflected on the climate talks in a blog published by Economist Impact .

Despite the challenges that arose in Dubai, Manish writes, the consensus is clear: the book must close on fossil fuels. With a little more than a year to put the call to action into concrete plans, nations across the globe must resist the pleas of oil and gas proponents and, instead, stand up for its people and communities.

A recent report reveals that the state of many managed forest in Canada could be considered degraded by international standards. Roughly every five years, Congress revises a legislative package that sets the stage for food and farming policy in the United States. This is called the Farm Bill, and helps us to determine what we grow, how we grow it, and funds several programs for farmers as well as food access for low-income families.

The Farm Bill is one of the most critical pieces of legislation that shapes our food system and its environmental impacts, such as air and water pollution,” says Allison Johnson, senior attorney in NRDC’s People + Communities Program.
