In true XPeng fashion, the company has revealed a teaser of its latest eVTOL — the X5 Tilt-Rotor, showcased at the XPeng AI Technology Day event. The six-rotor X5 flying car concept marks the second step in XPeng AeroHT's three-phase strategy for urban low-altitude mobility and completes the company’s low-altitude travel lineup, which includes the previously launched Land Aircraft Carrier and an integrated land-air flying car. Beyond the X5, XPeng discussed its new Turing AI Driving System, the XPeng Turing AI Chip, the XPeng Canghai Base (a foundational L4 autonomous driving platform), its AIOS (AI Operating System), the Kunpeng Super Electric System, and provided an update on its humanoid robot, Iron. He Xiaopeng also announced a crowdfunding initiative for existing users to upgrade their intelligent driving and cockpit chips. The upgrade will involve significant backend development and extensive work on software training and data annotation. However, the platform's end-to-end model integration is said to make these upgrades achievable. The crowdfunding campaign will run from November 11 to March 12.

Honda is moving forward in the development of its electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, recently receiving FAA approval for flight testing. This prototype, created by the Honda Research Institute, is part of Honda’s exploration into hybrid-electric air travel, aiming for a range of up to 216 nautical miles. The FAA’s exemption allows Honda to conduct demonstration flights through October 2026 with a scaled-down test model weighing over 55 pounds. Although few details have been released, Honda describes the design as a multi-rotor configuration with both lifting and propulsion propellers, emphasizing quieter operation than traditional helicopters. The project benefits from Honda’s experience in certifying aircraft, with ambitions to bring advanced electric aircraft to the skies in the near future. VFS continues with many events, including Transformational Vertical Flight 2025 in Phoenix February, and the VFS Forum 81 in Virginia Beach in May
