We're 6+ months late launching a brand. And that's a good thing. I just had a really interesting chat with a client who we're doing a rebrand for. They originally wanted go live in the summer this year, but now won't be launching until early next year. And they're happy about that. Why? Before we started working together, the client assumed the rebrand would entail coming up with a new logo, colours, type and a design style—and then just updating the website and applying it to some marketing materials. Maybe a 2 month project. But just like every brand project, it has changed everything. The client has realised that the new brand strategy, positioning and design has levelled up their game to such an extent, that every part of the business needs to level up to match. They're changing their internal processes, their entire product range, their hiring proposition, their sales strategy, their internal culture, their business goals, the way they think about the future of the business. Everything. From top to bottom. And that's what we told them would happen at the start. Because it virtually always does. The purpose of a rebrand is not to give the current company a new look. It's to create a vision and a proposition for where the company wants to be in 3-5 years time. A vision for the company to work toward. Sometimes clients will take a new brand and slowly evolve their company to be at the same level as the brand vision. Other times clients will want to make significant changes to the business to align with the vision before launching. Both work. Branding changes more than you think it does. We’re closing in on the big night at the Financial Promoter Awards where our MD Mike Jordan will be handing out the award for #Brand Initiative of the Year. The competition was strong, with all entries demonstrating the power of strategic thinking, creativity, and bold decisions. When reviewing, Mike was looking for an entry that really stood out in these key areas: #strategy , #outputs , #effectiveness , #creativity , and #bravery . It wasn’t an easy call, and every entrant should feel proud of the work they put forward. The title Brand Initiative doesn’t fully capture the sheer effort and vision behind these projects. These are initiatives that require big decisions and, often, significant risks to break new ground and drive growth. Success in this space relies on leveraging data, expertise, and creativity – with people’s careers and ambitions riding on those results.
