Today, the amphibious landing ship HNLMS Johan de Witt arrived at South Harbour, docking at Dunottar Quay. Measuring over 176 meters long with a gross tonnage of 28,395, HNLMS Johan de Witt is the largest warship to dock at Port of Aberdeen in its 888-year history. It's been a busy few weeks at Port of Aberdeen 🚢 ⚓Earlier this week, we had the privilege of hosting two naval vessels. The German corvette FGS Magdeburg made a visit to North Harbour over the weekend before setting sail early Tuesday morning. Shortly after, the Belgian Navy Ship Louise-Marie arrived, marking the first warship to dock at South Harbour. 📦The port has also been bustling with cargo project activity, featuring ongoing timber projects and the arrival of various cargo ships, including BigLift Shipping B.V. Happy Rover, as well as the Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. Locomotion. 🛢️As Europe’s premier port for the oil and gas industry, we have welcomed numerous vessels operating in this vital sector, including MAERSK offshore supply ships Involver and Achiever, along with Boskalis offshore construction vessel Boka Polaris. Today Port of Aberdeen was delighted to welcome its first-ever warship into South Harbour as the Belgian Navy Ship Louise-Marie docked at Castlegate Quay at 10:30 a.m. The ship’s arrival was coordinated at short notice, demonstrating the port's agility and efficiency. The vessel will benefit from world-class logistical support provided by the port's supply chain and the wider regional network, before she departs on Thursday, 24 October. Bob Sanguinetti said, “We are delighted to welcome BNS Louise-Marie into South Harbour this morning. Originally scheduled for later in the month, our team’s quick response and adaptability ensured we could accommodate the Navy vessel at very short notice.
