Since 1976, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) has been prudently investing funds on behalf of the Government of Abu Dhabi, with a focus on long-term value creation.

Today it was announced that a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and Dutch pension investor, APG Asset Management N.V (APG), have invested alongside the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) in the Trans Java Toll Road sections of Kanci-Pejagan and Pejagan-Pemalang.

Today at COP28, ADIA has announced that it has agreed a $100 million repo transaction with the Liquidity and Sustainability Facility (LSF) and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), within BNY Mellon’s Triparty Facility, to increase the liquidity of African Sovereign Eurobonds and incentivise Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)-related investments, such as green bonds, in Africa. 

An initial $50 million transaction related to a basket of seven African countries under the facility has been closed.

Yesterday, ADIA held the Energy Transition Summit, an event designed to closely examine the science, key drivers and investment opportunities associated with the move to a low carbon economy.

ADIA invited global thought leaders from academia, the investor community and corporates directly involved in the energy transition to present their views on the impact of the energy transition on major asset classes.

ADIA this week participated in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD) World Investment Forum held in Abu Dhabi. The event’s theme was “Investing in Sustainable Development”.
 
ADIA’s Executive Director of the Infrastructure Department, Khadem AlRemeithi and Global Head of Infrastructure, Karim Mourad, participated on panels titled “Facilitating investment in energy transition in developing economies”, “Mobilising Institutional Investment for Sustainable Development in Africa” and “Investment in Sustainable Infrastructure”.
 
ADIA continues to play an active role in promoting dialogue and cooperation among stakeholders in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure development, particularly in emerging and developing markets.

ADIA is a founding member of the One Planet Sovereign Wealth Funds Network (OPSWF), which draws together sovereign wealth funds, asset managers and private equity funds to accelerate the integration of climate change analysis into the management of large, long-term, and diversified asset pools.

ADIA representatives were among the members of OPSWF to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry, World Bank President Ajay Banga and Head of the TCFD Secretariat, Dr. Mary L. Schapiro, to advance the financial community’s contribution to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement.
 
This meeting was part of the 6th Annual CEO OPSWF Network Summit, organised to coincide with the New Global Financing Pact Summit in Paris, and aims to build on the outcomes of OPSWF’s last CEO Summit co-hosted by ADIA and Mubadala in Abu Dhabi in October 2022.
