❓ Why would you choose to work for a startup and reject offers from big corporations? Isn't that risky? ...Are just some of the questions I have received since I started working for SEIA GmbH . Some of them are overly direct to even share. On Friday, 8th of November, I hosted an "Internship Info Session: Corporate vs. Startup Experience," alongside Cristian-Mihai , where we tackled the comparison of what it means to work for a huge company versus to work for a rather small company. While we definitely showed big differences - what was the process of getting the job like, how does our average day look like, how do operations work, work-life balance, business flexibility - we came down to conclusion that no matter the workplace and the size of it, as an intern you're probably going to face some obstacles at the beginning. Some of the key takeaways: ➡ Expect the unexpected. ➡ Be open to learn, learn, and learn. ➡ Don't be afraid to ask questions. No one was born with all the knowledge. ➡ It is okay to make mistakes. It is not okay not learning from them and not using them as a tool for growth. ➡ Everyone understands that you are a student who (most likely) doesn't have proper prior experience, therefore the expectations are not as high. ➡ If you really want to achieve something, work really hard towards it. Whatever that may be. ➡ Learn from everyone from your company. No matter the role that they have. We put a lot of emphasis on learning, as you may have noticed while reading this post. As B.B. King said: "The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you." U.S. DOJ calls for compliance programs to have proper oversight of business data and "sufficient technology utilise it" Argentieri’s third big point was the compliance officer’s access to data, and whether the compliance team has sufficient technology to put that data to proper use. As part of prosecutors’ assessment of compliance programs, she said, “we will also consider whether companies are putting the same resources and technology into gathering and leveraging data for compliance purposes that they are using in their business.”
