According to the 2024 Business Ready (B-READY) report from The World Bank , North Macedonia is making significant strides in creating a favorable business environment. Key Highlights: ✅ Top Scores: North Macedonia ranks highest in Business Entry, Utility Services, and Financial Services. The economy excels with unique business identification, transparent information on connection requirements, tariffs, and complaint mechanisms for electricity. Additionally, it offers enhanced and simplified Customer Due Diligence processes based on client risk. ❌ Areas for Improvement: The country scores lowest in Taxation, Business Location, and Business Insolvency. IMF Representative's Visit to the Agency for Foreign Investments and Export Promotion Today, the director of the Agency met with Rimtautas Bartkus , a representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from Washington, as part of their "Fact-finding mission." The discussion focused on the current status of foreign direct investment (FDI) in North Macedonia and the key steps needed to enhance future investment conditions. The Agency highlighted recent foreign investments announced by the Government, noting that many existing investors are reinvesting due to the favorable business climate, skilled workforce, strategic location, and government incentives for the production sector. The meeting also emphasized the Agency's ongoing efforts to boost FDI attraction and promote exports.

North Macedonia - Türkiye Investment and Trade Forum Highlights Opportunities for Growth and Collaboration 🇲🇰 🤝🇹🇷 Organized by the Balkan Center for Strategic Research (BASAM), the Investment and Trade Forum between Türkiye and North Macedonia was held on September 27 at the campus of the International Balkan University (IBU) in Skopje. Director of Invest North Macedonia, Refik Xhemaili, participated in the panel discussion as part of the forum, moderated by the President of BASAM, Rifat Sait . In his address, Xhemaili emphasized the importance of Turkish investments in the country and the potential for further growth in several sectors, such as agribusiness, the metal industry, and construction. "We are ready to offer significant support to Turkish investors who show interest in North Macedonia. The Director of Invest North Macedonia, Refik Xhemaili, held a meeting with the Executive Director of the Economic Chamber of North-West Macedonia (OEMVP), Durim Zekiri , along with the Board Member, Qanije Selimi. The purpose of the meeting was to explore opportunities for establishing new collaborations, focusing on supporting sustainable economic development through strategic sectors such as energy, information technology, agriculture, and the metal industry. During the discussions, the importance of the Law on Financial Support of Investments was highlighted, with both parties expressing the need for its revision to improve the effectiveness of measures aimed at stimulating investments. Potential changes were also discussed to make the law more flexible and aligned with current economic trends and the needs of domestic and foreign investors. Additionally, the meeting reviewed the possibility of joint initiatives between the Agency and OEMVP to better promote North Macedonia's export capacities, especially in the Western European region.
